Welcome to the Burrillville Teachers’ Association

We Make a Difference

 

The Burrillville Teachers Association was established in the late 1950’s to represent the teachers in three schools. Teacher contracts started to emerge and in 1966 the BTA became a collective bargaining agent representing teachers. The BTA now has 208 active members serving five schools and is the recognized bargaining agent for certified teaching staff in Burrillville. The BTA is the local affiliate of the National Education Association of RI (NEARI) and the National Education Association (NEA).

All teachers in Burrillville are Highly Qualified, in accordance with federal regulations, in the subject area they teach. Many have Masters degrees, some have CAGS (certificate of graduate studies), and several have a PhD or National board certification. The BTA teachers serve approximately 2,550 Students in three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school.

All of the teachers of Burrillville work hard every day to insure every student has a safe and caring environment in which to thrive. Many teachers work long hours during the summer and after school to develop new programs and curriculum that reflect best education practices.
